EuroLIfe: Day 344

Fall is here!

And it is cold. Really cold...as in sweaters and sweatshirts and maybe even scarfs cold! One week ago, it was warm enough for shorts and a t-shirt, so this has been a rather dramatic temperature shift. Still, the cold weather has brought about some nice changes. For example...

Oh yes, those are Christmas cookies. Lebkuchen, to be precise. Lebkuchen are soft, strongly flavored gingerbread cookies often (maybe always?) covered in chocolate and, sometimes, also coated with sprinkles. They are only sold during the Christmas Season, so of course, now that it's September, they're on sale :) I will never again complain about stores in the U.S. putting out their Christmas goods too soon.

And, of course, with the warm weather comes warm clothing. Have you ever seen a cooler little boy than this guy? (If so, you don't need to answer that question. If not, feel free to let me know :)

Because we do not have a car, we spend a fair amount of time outside. I try to take one long walk with David every afternoon, and lately Michael has been taking him up into the hills when he has him. (Michael takes David for about 2 hours a day so that I can get some work done on my dissertation.) For those occasions, David has to be really warm. We have 3 of this sort of thing, all hand-me-downs and all wonderfully cozy. He looks decidedly less cool in these, but still very cute in my opinion. Alas, we only have pictures of one of them so far:

He can't move very well in this, so he grunts like mad when we first zip him up, but then he doesn't mind at all.

And, completely unrelated to the cold weather, we've been working on Tummy Time around here. David prefers only to turn his head to the right, and life requires that one be able to turn one's head both ways, so we've been taking him to a physical therapist. He can turn his head both ways, and actually Michael and I didn't notice this--the doctor did! Apparently he has some muscle tension in his neck that needs to be worked out. I can't imagine how that happened, in light of the hours and hours during which his poor head was stuck and his whole body was being pushed in a direction he simply couldn't go... Anyway, tummy time helps and he actually loves it!

but sometimes he tips over...

And, finally, just one more cute picture:

Love those pics! He looks really cute (is that a british word? not sure...) in those shirts. And the last pic is one of my favorites. What a sweet smile!

So cute!!!! And it seems as if he knows to look directly at the camera sometimes. I love the fall outfits and I am counting the days, ok weeks, until he comes to NY. Love,
Oma

Such cute photos! I love the rugby-and-jeans look, and he looks so cuddly in his fuzzy bunting. And what a great tummy-time series. Can't wait to meet him in person soon - we're counting down the days! Lots of love, Rach, John, Fiona and Eamon
